Prayer Request

Mu Gay received a call yesterday morning from the brother remaining in Mae La Camp, with reports that many KNU soldiers have been killed in joint attacks by the Burmese Army and its ally, the Democratic Karen Burmese Army (DKBA). DKBA troops were originally part of the KNU but split from the Christian-dominated KNU in 2005 and became its enemy by joining forces with the Burmese junta. They are intent on finishing off the KNU, whose numbers are dwindling.

Many KNU soldiers are being brought to the hospital in Mae Sot in very serious condition, often with missing limbs. Today, Mu Gay received word that one of Steven's friends arrived at Mae Sot after having stepped on a land mine, but there is no word about Steven. Mu Gay is frantic with worry, and she wonders how she will tell her parents back in Rangoon. (She and her brother have kept Steven's return to the KNU a secret.) Mu Gay worries that her mother will not be able to handle the news—she has a weak heart, and she loves Steven so much. Please pray for Steven, Mu Gay, and the rest of her family; for the Burmese people, who have suffered so much and continue to suffer; and for wisdom for those of us working with Mu Gay, that we may be a comfort to her in a country where she has few friends.

Phil. 4:6-7
너에게 무 게이를 위로하고 옆에서 힘이 되어 주도록 너를 그곳에 함께 있게 하시는 것 아니겠니? 힘내기를 바란다.
